About Bosphorus Sunset Cruise
MerrySails operates a shared Bosphorus sunset sailing built for guests who want the golden-hour experience on the strait without sitting through a full evening dinner programme. The approximately 2-hour loop uses a confirmed Karaköy meeting area. August through October 2026 are currently bookable with boarding at 18:15 and departure at 18:30. If operations announces a new seasonal time and exact change date, only dates on and after that date will use the new schedule.
The Bosphorus is a 31-kilometre strait separating Europe from Asia, linking the Black Sea to the Sea of Marmara. After leaving Karaköy, the outward leg normally follows the European shore past Dolmabahçe Sarayı, Çırağan, Ortaköy Camii, and the first Bosphorus Bridge. The planned northern turning zone sits between the First Bridge and the Rumeli Hisarı area, but marine traffic, weather, and the available sailing window can require an earlier or later turn. The southbound leg changes the viewing angle toward the Asian shore and Maiden's Tower before the yacht returns to the confirmed Karaköy area as the light moves toward blue hour.
We operate two pricing tiers on the same route. The base Without-Wine fare is €34 (€30 on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday sailings), and the With-Wine fare is €40 (€35 on the same three weekdays). The midweek discount applies automatically at checkout — no coupon code is needed, and the price structure is fixed every week of the year.
Onboard hospitality is laid out across three small categories rather than one long list. Hot drinks include freshly brewed tea and Turkish coffee. The cold-drink selection is iced tea, house lemonade, a seasonal fruit juice and bottled water. A snack platter with mixed nuts, salted crackers and a fresh-fruit plate is served from the moment guests board. Guests on the With-Wine package additionally receive two glasses of wine each. A live English-speaking guide narrates the landmarks as the vessel passes each one.
MerrySails operates under Meryem Yıldız Travel — TURSAB A Group licensed since 2001 with 50,000+ guests hosted on the Bosphorus over that period.

Operator route briefing
How the MerrySails sunset route unfolds
This is an approximately two-hour loop, not a fixed minute-by-minute sightseeing schedule. The direction below helps you plan where the light and landmarks usually appear; your written confirmation controls the exact meeting berth and departure time.
01
Meet and return in Karaköy
The boarding flow uses the confirmed Karaköy meeting area. The exact berth or vessel position can change, so use the pin and instructions sent with your booking. The loop normally finishes back in the same confirmed area.
02
First half: north along the European shore
After leaving Karaköy, the outward leg follows the European side. Dolmabahçe and Çırağan lead toward Ortaköy Mosque and the First Bosphorus Bridge, with the guide placing each landmark in context.
03
Middle: the operational turning zone
The planned northern turn sits between the First Bridge and the Rumeli Hisarı area. Bosphorus traffic, weather and the available sailing window can require an earlier or later turn, so Rumeli Hisarı should be treated as route-permitting rather than guaranteed.
04
Second half: southbound light and Asian-shore views
On the return, the viewing angle changes toward the Asian shore. Depending on the sailing line, Beylerbeyi, Kuleli, Üsküdar and Maiden's Tower may come into view before the yacht returns to Karaköy as the light moves toward blue hour.
What can change on the day
Sunset visibility is weather-dependent. Wind, current, marine traffic, pier availability and official operating instructions may change the order, proximity or timing of landmarks without changing the approximate two-hour product format.

“Perfect first night in Istanbul. The sunset over the bridges was stunning, the guide was warm and knowledgeable, and we loved the snack platter. Worth every cent — and so much less than we'd seen quoted elsewhere.”

“Stress-free booking via WhatsApp, replied in 4 minutes. Boat was punctual, route hit every Bosphorus highlight, and the wine option made it special. Will recommend to friends visiting Istanbul.”
🇩🇪Lukas·cruised 18 May 2026
“Photographe en herbe : le coucher de soleil entre Ortaköy et Rumeli Hisarı est juste magnifique. Petit bémol, on aurait pris un peu plus de boissons chaudes en mai. Mais l'équipe a été adorable.”
🇫🇷Sophie·cruised 14 May 2026
“We tried other operators last year and the markup was 30-40% higher. Same boat, same route, much better price booking direct. Lovely Tuesday evening for our family.”
